Norske tog AS owns and manages rolling stock for rental for passenger train operators in Norway and is responsible for procurement of new rolling stocks. Norske tog is planning to acquire new long-distance trains to operate the Dovre Railway, the Sørland Railway, the Bergen Railway and the Nordland Railway. The new trains will replace the current long-distance trains when they approach their expected technical life and strengthen the Norwegian train service in line with the Railway Directorate’s estimated growth.

  • The trains servicing on the Bergen line must be replaced first
  • Renewal of the night train service on the long-distance lines is included in the procurement
  • It is planned to procure up to 100 long-distance trains to be put into service in the period 2025-2033

Norske tog wants dialogue with and input from stakeholders and user groups to develop a requirement specification that replies to the needs and wished of different stakeholders and user groups.
